001.本文書について 全ては受験者の為に

この文書はGMAT Critical Reasoning(以下CR)対策用の文書である。GMAT受験者にCRの全体像をつかみ、実践的なアプローチを理解してもらうためのものだ。同じくVERBAL対策用に書かれたSC版と共に利用して頂ければVERBALの本格的演習の準備は整うはずである。本書はGMATやLSAT、GREの4000題以上のCRの過去問は勿論のこと、Kaplan、Test Masters等、アメリカ本土でCR指導に定評のある対策校のリソースを調査の上書かれている。あえて本書の特徴をわかりやすく言えば、Kaplanの正当的アプローチを継承したGMAT CR日本語解説書だ。奇を衒う説明もないし、逆にあたりまえすぎる説明も避けている。CRの準備を無理無く総合的に行う為にまとめられた文書だ。無料の本書とそのSC版、それにWlimits GMAT 無料ミニテストを十分に利用の上、Offician Guideなどの演習にも手を伸ばしていただければGMAT VERBALの勉強の大部分は終わる。本書はVERSION1.0を皮切りに、2004年以降の新規問題への分析を採り入れながら際限なく進化していく。そしてどこまでも無料提供を続ける。

001.本文書について 全ては受験者の為に

この文書はGMAT SC対策に関する知識を提供するもので、このVersion 3.0(09/03/2004 リリース)が最新版だ。VERSION 2シリーズからの変更は中盤に多くの解説、例文、さらにはいくつかの必要知識が追加されことで、分量的にはVERSION2.1から25%増加している。この先を読みすすめていけばいずれ納得していただけるが、この文書は網羅的であり、最低限の自習能力のある方には予備校の対策講座を一切不要にする。数十万の予備校投資は必要無い。余計な親切心かもしれないが、現在GMAT受験をお考えの方にはまずこの文書を完全にマスタし、Wlimitsの無料ミニテストを十分に解きこなしてから、予備校の教材を実際に見学に行ってみることをおすすめする。この無料教材が他の高額な有料教材より包括的で、それでいて無駄のないものであることがおわかり頂けると確信している。本解説、無料ミニテストによる演習以上のものが特にないのに、それでも高額な投資をしたい方には予備校通学をおすすめするが、全てがWlimitsにあることは間違いないとあらかじめ断言しておく。

本書は大量の過去問だけでなくKaplan Princeton Arco始め、多くの予備校のリソースを十分に調査の上書かれているが、専門家が専門家であることを示すための余計な知識(出題可能性は非常に低いのに、プロフェッショナルたる威厳をかざすための知識)は極力排除し、GMATに真に有効な知識を集めている。包括的であり無駄がないとはその意味をこめての自己形容である。極一部の知識はdetailすぎてここには登場させていないが、それらはオンラインテストで補完されることを保証する。

本ドキュメントのレベルは低くない。TOEFL230程度の英語力を有している方を対象としている。GMAT SCという視点で記述される文法解説なので、TOEFL初歩レベルの基礎的な文法知識の整理に遡ることは極力していない。

今回のGMAT試験範囲拡大は、試験のオーナーであるGMAC(Graduate Management Admission Council)が、過去4年間に経営大学院の教職員に行ったアンケートの結果を反映したものです。GMACは、GMAT試験の継続的な改善活動の一環として、教職員からの回答を広く受け入れています。GMACは、本日、世界の経営大学院専門家が集まる最大の催しであるAnnual Industry Conferenceで、この変更を発表しました。

GMATの統合化推論セクションは、テクノロジーと評価のイノベーションを強調するもので、試験の有効性をさらに向上する質問が設けられています。この設問には、図表、グラフ、スプレッドシートなど、複数の情報源からの情報が含まれています。受験者には、経営大学院でしなければならないような、情報の分析、結果の説明、データポイント間の関係の記述などが求められます。

「GMATの新しい統合化推論セクションは、今日の経営大学院の教室をそのまま反映したものとなるでしょう。」と、GMAC会長兼CEOのDave Wilsonは述べました。「これらの設問により、データの評価・理解・推定により正しい判断を下す能力が入学希望者にあるかどうかについて、重要な情報が大学院に提供されます。」

GMAT試験全体の実施時間は、3時間半のままで変更されません。新しい統合化推論セクションは30分間で、その代わりに、GMATの分析的記述セクションの中のエッセイ2題が、1題に減らされます。入試担当責任者のひとりは、GMACの調査により、エッセイの成績は非常に似通っていることが分かったので、学業成績の予想にはエッセイ1題で十分だと述べました。

GMAT試験の口頭試問や定量的課題は、変更されません。その結果、2012年6月からのセクション新設後も、現在使用されている200～800点のスケールによる評点は変わりません。受験者は、現在の受け取っているエッセイのスコアとは別に、新しい統合化推論セクションのスコアも受け取ります。
